The Logo Design Process: Pay Attention!
March 26th, 2009Your logo is one of the most important aspects of your brand. It’s on your letterhead, your business card, your website, and just about anything else related to your business. Basically, it’s everywhere, and so, it deserves your attention.
You know what your business does and the values behind it. But how should these values look?
It all starts with an idea. But your logo design should be more than a fleeting idea. Think about it carefully. It may even be something that’s constantly evolving, while retaining the same core structures and values. (Not coincidentally, kind of like your business.)
The thought process and research behind your logo can make or break it. The old saying, “you get what you pay forâ€, can easily be applied to the logo design process.
The more time and research invested into your company’s logo and brand, the better the outcome.
The logo design process shouldn’t start and end with a designer working alone.
The process should start with questions about your company and ends with answers in the form of design solutions. The more questions you and your designer answer together, the more answers your logo will provide consumers.
What do you want your customers to think about you when they see your logo? How do you want them to feel?
The best logos have the ability to support all other branding elements in a fluid, easily-digestible manner. They should also have the ability to be cultivated over a long period of time and grow with your business.
In the end, your logo builds a foundation for your brand. And a strong foundation will serve you well for years to come.
