New Projects with the Magento Enterprise Edition

At August Ash, we've been fans of Magento since it was first released in March 2008. The open-source community agrees, with more than 85,000 of us responsible for over 750,000 free downloads of the e-commerce platform.

With community interest so great, Magento's creator, Varien, decided to step in with a paid version, the Magento Enterprise Edition, on April 15, 2009.

Just what does this Enterprise Edition offer that the free community edition doesn't? A few features include:

  • Administrator permission roles on website and store levels.
  • Logging of administrator actions.
  • Content staging and merging.
  • Limited catalog access per customer group.
  • Private sale access.
  • Store data encryption.
  • Gift certificates/cards (physical and virtual).
  • Customer store credits.

We're excited to begin work on some projects with the Magento Enterprise Edition soon, and we can't wait to try out these features for ourselves!
