Updated DrupalCon Recap
August Ash has had some of our Minneapolis Drupal developers in Chicago all week participating in DrupalCon 2011. Day Two of DrupalCon Chicago (Wednesday) was an intense day full of interesting sessions. Today, we're sharing a little more of what they've seen so far:
- The morning began with Clay Shirky talking about the evolution of the Internet. We as web developers have done our part in changing society through the Web, and it was interesting to reflect on that.
- Some of our guys learned more about Drupal's transition from CVS to Git and the various tools that Drupal developers now have access to using Git. It's exciting to see the future of development.
- Later, they learned about the new user interfaces in Drupal 7, an important part of bringing this versatile CMS to actual users.
- Considerable time was spent learning about Apache Solr, which is a high-end search system, plus more on thumbing, making your Drupal site run faster and better, and how to better administrate content.
- There were also a number of sessions about Drush, which allows developers to administrate Drupal on the command-line (for real geeks only!) as well as what's new in Drupal 7 regarding JavaScript.
- Our developers even had an opportunity to meet up with one of our clients to share a few drinks and recap after the day's sessions.
- Finally, our boys got schooled by some really spicy Thai food before calling it a night.
