What is Link Building?

This is another question we get asked by business owners as they become more aware of SEO and how it relates to their site. What is link building?

Simply put, link building is the process or effort spent on gaining links to your site from other sites (also referred to as "backlinks" or "inbound links").

While it can take many shapes, the strategy behind smart link building is built on improving not just quantity of inbound links to a site, but also the quality of those links--where they come from. Because so much of how search engines rank web pages has to do with the kinds of links pointing to them, this kind of SEO work can be time well spent.

When done right, though, it can also be some of the most labor- and time-intensive work.

As a general rule, good link building isn't easy, and it's rarely fast. In fact, consider it a red flag if you're approached by a company who offers to get you hundreds or thousands of backlinks quickly. They might be able to deliver a high volume of links to your site, but the quality of those backlinks will be distinctly lacking.

If you've been approached with an offer for link building, we invite you to consult August Ash first and see what's really being offered--and what it may cost your site in the long run. We don't like seeing it, but too often in this field, we come across websites for which poor link building was engaged. In these cases, the results are at best wasteful, and at worst, counterproductive.

If you agree that the best time to address a problem is before it's created in the first place, consider partnering with August Ash for SEO that's founded on results-based experience.
