Free Tips for Writing Your "About" Page

Your “About” page is often the first page a visitor clicks into after arriving at your site. So this page is a good opportunity to tell new visitors what makes you unique.

When writing this page, consider some of the questions or comments you already hear from your existing and potential customers, and then try to proactively answer them in the content of your page.

Along with this information, think about including the following:

  • Tell visitors not only what your company does but who your company is.
  • Mention the benefits you offer customers, your philosophy or mission, and what makes you stand out from the competition.
  • List summaries of comments you hear from satisfied customers.
  • Mention your top executive or key staff.
  • Note any special recognitions you have received.
  • Include a clear display of contact information for your company.

If you have more details to provide about any of these topics, provide a brief description, then use descriptive language and key words to link to other relevant pages on your site.

If you have enough to share about your business or organization, it might also be worth including pages for testimonials, job openings, staff bios/introductions, and awards or recognitions.
