Social media on its own is innocuous.
Like any other business or marketing tool, social media’s potential for helping or hurting a brand depends entirely on the force driving it. Having a Twitter account won’t harm (or benefit) your company’s image, unless the individual or team pushing the buttons makes that happen.
Sometimes social media, in and of itself, gets vilified because of notable cases where it was misused by malice or neglect. Social media is one of several online marketing tools that can yield outstanding results when used strategically.
