Magento 1.7 Coming Soon (e-commerce)

Magento 1.7, a new update to the already dependable e-commerce platform, should be released sometime within the next month, and with it, brings some exciting new features (as well as many bug fixes).

Some of the forthcoming highlights in Magento 1.7 include:

Online Sales, Especially From Mobile Devices, See Bigger Increase

It should come as little surprise that more sales each year, especially during the holiday shopping season, are taking place online. But the extent of that trend remains newsworthy, bolstered by statistics that show strong increases in ecommerce purchases.

Web Speak: What Is Magento?

We're frequently approached for Magento design, development, and implementation; many times by businesses who already have a Magento site but one which needs repair or completion. And because a big part of what we do is relative to ecommerce sites, we love those opportunities.

However, we also understand that many of our visitors who are considering ecommerce options may not already be familiar with Magento.

Magento eCommerce Forum to be Held at August Ash Offices

Next Wednesday, October 26th, Magento will be holding a limited availability eCommerce Forum in Minnesota. Because of our relationship and experience with Magento's platform, August Ash has been selected to host this event.

The eCommerce Forum, part of Magento's Seminar Series, will teach businesses how to convert vistors who browse into visitors who buy.

We're always pleased to see our customers' work, and our work, recognized publicly. It's especially rewarding, though, when that honorable recognition comes from industry critics.

Magento Ecommerce Solutions Here in Minneapolis

Magento is big. Very big.

And not just in terms of its capabilities. Businesses and non-profits around the world have awoken to the power, flexibility, and affordability of this open source tool for ecommerce. That means there’s a worldwide—and sometimes, urgent—need for reliable, competent Magento developers.

New Projects with the Magento Enterprise Edition

At August Ash, we've been fans of Magento since it was first released in March 2008. The open-source community agrees, with more than 85,000 of us responsible for over 750,000 free downloads of the e-commerce platform.

With community interest so great, Magento's creator, Varien, decided to step in with a paid version, the Magento Enterprise Edition, on April 15, 2009.

The Kiplinger Letter Forecasts Increased Online Retail Sales

While many industries are declining, some even disappearing, this excerpt from the Kiplinger Letter forecasts a bright future for online retail sales.

"Online retail sales will soar 16% in 2008, to about $200 billion. Then, growth will slow, leveling off at 10% per year by 2012. The number of shoppers will rise only 2% a year, but they'll buy more--some, much more. Half of online shoppers account for two-thirds of sales.
