How To: Use Email Marketing

We met with a new client recently who runs a brick and mortar retail store, and with the help of a Magento ecommerce solution we’ll be implementing for them, they will soon be reaching a bigger market online.

We weren’t surprised to learn that this client was open, even excited, about the potential of using email to reach new buyers. When used as part of a cohesive Internet marketing strategy, email marketing (e-newsletters, e-blasts, etc) are an effective – and sometimes, lucrative – way to bring specific messages to specific audiences.

Here at August Ash, anytime we include something as part of a comprehensive SEM plan, we begin with a strategy, and email marketing is no exception. If you’re entertaining the possibility of beginning a new email campaign, or refocusing an existing one, consider the following.

Effective Email Marketing Is Not Just SPAM

Email. Used and abused.

For most of us today, email is an essential part of both our personal and work lives. If we don’t check our email for a few days, we probably feel lost. And if we don’t receive any emails for a day, we think something’s wrong.

Yet, we all see how email is abused daily. Even if we’re very careful with where we put our addresses online, chances are some junk mail - maybe a lot of junk mail - makes it to our inboxes.

Because of our love hate relationship with email, it’s no surprise that there are mixed attitudes toward email marketing.
It’s a direct, affordable way to communicate with your customers. But you don’t want to be that pest that’s cluttering their inboxes.
